73,000 Retail Store Closings Predicted for First Half of 2009

The International Council of Shopping Centers has predicted that 73,000 retail stores will close in the first half of 2009. The prediction for 2008 was 148,000 which would be the largest number of closures since 2o01 when 151,000 stores closed. Here's a list of Office Depot store closings and Macy's store closings.
