Office Depot sent an email today with a $20 Off of $75 coupon (Office Depot Coupon Code 63662353). They acknowledged the Office Depot store closings:

73,000 Retail Store Closings Predicted for First Half of 2009

The International Council of Shopping Centers has predicted that 73,000 retail stores will close in the first half of 2009. The prediction for 2008 was 148,000 which would be the largest number of closures since 2o01 when 151,000 stores closed. Here's a list of Office Depot store closings and Macy's store closings.

Macy's Store Closing List

Macy's store closings were announced about a year ago including store closings in Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Utah and Texas. Since we've had so much interest in our Office Depot store closing list we thought it might be helpful to publish the list of Macy's store closings as we couldn't find the list on their customer web site or corporate web site. Wal-Mart Opening in West Palm Beach Florida

Wal-Mart will open soon in West Palm Beach, Florida at 3222 Commerce Place. The store located near Village Boulevard and 45th Street will open in March and is expected to hire about 300 workers according to a local article. Wal-Mart is one of the few retailers in this recessions to recently post same store sales gains over a year ago.

Ruby Tuesdays Closing 70 Locations Over Several Years

Ruby Tuesdays plans to close 40 locations in the third quarter of 2009 and another 30 over the next several years. Details were not provided on specific location closings.

Office Depot's Store Closing List includes stores in Alabama, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio, Oregon, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Pennysylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. Overall the numbers for the Office Depot Store Closing List are 19 in the west, 45 in the central United States, 40 in the northeast and Canada and eight in the south.

Billings Montana Shopping Center Shiloh Crossing Tenants

Shiloh Crossing Shopping Center in Billings Montana is now open with three tenants and more to come this month and early next year. Kohl's Department Store, Candy Town USA and Cellular Connection are currently open with Huntington Learning Center, Subway, City Brew, Carmike and Taco Bell to open over the next few months. The rumor of Macy's coming to Billings has not been confirmed according to a local article.

Trader Joes Opens in San Francisco, California at Stonestown Mall

Trader Joe's opened December 10 near San Francisco State in the Stonestown Mall at 265 Winston Drive San Francisco, California 94132. The store was originally supposed to open in October according to a local article.

Office Depot Store Closing List - Office Depot to Close 112 Stores

The official Office Depot Store Closing list has not been released but reports from news sources across the country have identified Office Depot store closings in California, Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Pennyslvania, and Texas. A more complete list of store closings is below.

Office Depot plans to close almost 10% of its 1163 stores in North America over the next 3 months. It will open only 20 stores in 2009 rather than the 40 it had planned. If your store is closing you can order online at Office Depot's web site.

Ikea Store in Charlotte North Carolina to Open February 18, 2009

Ikea will open its Charlotte North Carolina Store February 18th a 9 a.m. in the University City area. The store is located at northeastern corner of I-85 and City Boulevard and includes a restaurant and Children's Play area.

Virgin Megastore to Close Arizona Mills Store in Tempe Arizona

Tempe Arizona will be losing its Virgin Megastore according to a local article. The Tempe Arizona store will be closing along with the Times Square Virgina Atlantic store in New York. The Virgin Megastore only has 8 locations in the United States and were recently purchased by Vornado Realty Trust so they could control the real estate.

Santee California Shopping Center Welcomes Henry's Farmers Market

The Marketplace at Santee, a new shopping center in Santee California, opened last month along with its anchor Henry's Farmers Market. Located at Mission Gorge Road and Carlton Hills Boulevard, the 73,000 square shopping center is owned by Sudberry Properties according to a local article.

Borders Books almost always has coupons available on their site. It's no wonder as the use of coupons has grown 33% this year according to a Keoland station. The trend is expected to continue.

Huntington Beach California Shopping Center’s First Store Opens

The Strand in Huntington Beach opens its first store, Forever 21, this weekend at the corner of 5th Street and Walnut Avenue. Developer CIM Group will open about 100,000 square feet of retail and offices in this mixed development project in phases according to a local article.

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Shopping Center Reopens Flea market.

Laurel Mall reopens its upscale flea market this weekend according to a local article. The grand opening will be Saturday at 10 a.m. and shoppers will have a chance to win prizes.

Milford Connecticut Shopping Center Purchases: Milford Plaza

Milford Plaza in Milford Connecticut was purchased for $30 million by Stonemar Properties according to a local article. The property is anchored by Bob's Stores and boasts UPS, Payless Shoe, Vazzy's Restaurant, Jani Restaurant, Blockbuster, State Farm, Edible Arrangements, Cost Cutters and Cardsmart as tenants. The center is located at 155 Cherry Street.
