HOW DO I USE THE LARGE AND SMALL GRID CELLS THAT POP UP WHEN I SELECT "RETAIL AREAS" IN A MARKET OF INTEREST AND GENERATE REPORTS?

To explore a market using the retail area selection tools:

  • Select the FIND AND EVALUATE SHOPPING CENTERS button
  • In Step 1, choose Map View (which is the default for using the Retail Area tools).
  • In Step 2, choose Retail Areas.
  • In Step 3, use the map of the US or the Information Box to select the state and city of interest.
  • When the city map appears it will be covered by LARGE GRID CELLS dividing it into nine sections. You have the option of choosing to view the entire market (by selecting that option on the top of the map) or clicking on one of the grid cells to zoom to that section of the city.
  • Next a detailed grid map of the city (or section of the city) appears. The grid cells in this map are approximately 1 kilometer x 1 kilometer in size.
  • To define a retail area of interest you can: a) click the "select grid cells" button in the box at the top of the screen; b) click on the individual grid cells of interest (they will be shaded and have a darker border when selected); and, c) click on "finished with grid cell selection" when you are finished defining the area of interest.
  • Now you have the option of generating REPORTS for this retail area, seeing additional DETAILS, including retailers in the area (for Gold Members) or exploring the MAP view in more detail.
  • To generate a report, several reports or a Report Package simply select these reports and follow the online instructions. Note that to order more than one report for a center you will need to add each report to your Shopping Cart until you are ready to check out.
  • Reports can be saved online or exported as an Excel or PDF file.
